Author - Michael Tomlinson

Dead Bones Society“Three, two,” Dr Oisa said as the spaceships engines warmed up with incredible force and heat, “one!” he shouted. Then there was an enormous boom! As the ship spirted out flames propelling it into space at exactly three times the speed of light. The spaceport rocked from side to side like an enormous Jack-in-the-box. Knocking computers and vases to the ground. Dr Oisa stood back up and picked up a weird looking radio with five T.V. screens and a three metre aerial sticking up out of the middle of it.

He pressed a scarlet button and shouted, “Are you over the planet!” He than pressed a green, round button than the numbers 6, 3, 2, 7 and 5.

“Yes!” Captain Aris shouted.

“Get a lock on the Anchicalsia house, and fire three missiles at it. This time come straight back! I don’t want to explain to the governor that you stayed there too long, again!” Dr Oisa thoroughly explained. “All right,” replied Aris, “I won’t stay for too long.”

Aris pressed a big, red button that said “Fire missile.” A huge, blue flash came out from under the ship followed by three more, all hitting the Anchicalsia house except for one which went straight into a black-hole blowing it up into millions of tiny pieces.

“Why did you fire four?” Asked one of the crew.

“I didn’t.” Whispered Aris. As he spun the ship around, he came face to face with a larger ship than his. It was a huge, black, Liopleurodon shaped ship. The huge mouth on it slowly started to open ready to fire. Then there was a tiny sucking noise.

Parts of the engine started to fly off it. The lights in it started to flicker then a huge, loud growing noise started and the ship fell out of the sky and crashed on the planet. The ship sank deep into the core of the planet.

“What did that?” The crew asked together.

“It was a black-hole, but just a small one.” Aris answered. “When the black-hole exploded it made millions of little black-holes.”

Just as he spoke green ooze poured out of the planet, burning everything in it’s path like lava. Within moments half of the planet fell off the other, sucked in by millions of tiny black holes.

“I didn’t do…” Aris spurted out trembling at the sight of all the tiny bodies being sucked into the black holes.

“You idiot!” the radio screamed.

“…It” Aris continued.

“Do you know what you have done? They will come back in even greater numbers than ours, even without half their planet!” Dr Oisa screamed through the radio. “Come straight back now you bumbling imbecile!”

And so the war began. The Arizacs were furious and attacked in the millions. Even though they were only five inches tall they had a secret weapon, the Olics. The Olics were giant monsters with jet-black fur, red eyes and suited to the heat of the planet core.

But now, twenty years later, the final battle was about to begin. Arises’ son Author was a soldier in the 3rd rank in the Gali valley. They had made their way to the base of the valley when the Arizacs, along with twelve Olics, had ambushed them at the top of the valley so they had the advantage of higher ground.

“Fire all cannons!” The captain yelled at the tired worn-out soldiers as they pressed a large, blue button, which released a huge, silver bullet shaped missile with blue flames spirting out the end of it. It landed just on the side of the cliff edge, where a few dozen Arizacs were standing. It made a huge crack up the cliff. The cliff started to slip but two Olics grabbed it and let the Arizacs off it. They then pulled the cliff up over their heads and threw it at the remaining cannon. The cannon blew up, killing three men and the lizard called Sickém, which they used to get Arizacs in their sleep.

“This is Captain Baris requesting backup!” the captain yelled into the radio. “We are fighting the last troops of Arizacs and we are out numbered about one hundred to 13!” the captain explained. But there was no reply. “God dam it, reply!” But there was still no reply.

“Author, get in here now!” the captain yelled out.

“Yes,” Author mumbled. “You wanted me?

“You’re the brains of this troop, what do you think we could do?” The Captain asked

There was a brief pause, and then Author mumbled, “I don’t know.”

“So we may as well surrender unless we can make an atomic bomb, which we can’t.” The Captain murmured.

“Actually, we may be able to do that.” Author replied.

“What?” the captain said.

“We may be able to make an atomic bomb.” Author replied.

“How?” asked the captain.

“Well if we stick all the remaining missiles toget…” Author broke off as Captain Brian yelled…

“I don’t want this chit, chat I want you to make a bomb!”

“All right, right away sir. I’ll get started on it right away sir” Author mumbled as he scrambled out of the room.

Author and his friend Jaris worked all night on it and finally at 9:00 they wheeled it out. It sat on a black base that sank into the ground to keep it in place. It had nine bullet shaped, silver missiles that were welded together with a short wick at the end.

“What is that?” One of the soldiers asked and Author replied,

“The thing that will save this planet.” Author and Jaris pointed to the camp where the Arizacs were sleeping.

“Ready?” Jaris asked Author.

“Ready” he replied.

Jaris lit a match and Author prepared to press the big red button. Togehter they pressed the button and lit the fuse. The bomb flew up into the air and hit the Arizacs camp.

“Yes” Author shouted. But then an unexpected thing happened. The bomb bounced off the ground, flew straight up into the air and blew up into a huge fireball. A huge silence filled the camps. Then a screaming noise came from some tents on top of the valley.

The radiation from the atomic bomb had made the Olics mad. They all ran around the place and one by one they all fell off the cliff, killing themselves and squashing all the Arizacs as they fell.

There was cheering throughout the camp and all the soldiers patted each other on the back. Captain Baris approached Author and gave him an evil like glare and then said “You’ve done good soldier, but what did you have in the bomb?”

“Just nine spare missiles and a radioactive bird and a few other things that we found.” Author replied.

And so the war was over and the Arizacs and Olics were finally extinct, or were they?

The End
